RAW disk image suitable for VMware ESX, KVM or XEN is here.

Herminio Noguera Ruiz contributed vyBuddy virtual appliance for VMware ESX:
It may be downloaded from either Vyatta4People or Openredes.

Appliance is based on Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) 64-bit.
Ruby on Rails and ExtJS frameworks are involved in project development
and innovative Netzke framework ties them up in a clean component-driven way.
Try Netzke! It worth it! ;)

NB!
Just after you install vyBuddy appliance and before reporting any errors
please run command update-vybuddy from Linux shell to update appliance.
I update vyBuddy code frequently, so make sure you have latest vyBuddy software.

This is not complete product, but a minimal foundation to build next releases on.
Submit your feature requests, criticize, express your opinion in any suitable way.
Remember, the way vyBuddy will progress depends on you just as it depends on me! :)

Features I need to implement ASAP:

  • significant UI changes: validations and improved look and feel, drag and drop, etc;
  • remote command execution via HTTPS requests [to Vyatta hosts];
  • XML import/export capabilities to hosts, tasks, remote commands and filters;
  • advanced iptables log viewer [for Vyatta hosts];
  • interactive remote command execution;
  • basic monitoring capabilities: email notifications on host up/down events;
  • security enhancements: crisp and clear user right system;

For now it’s all.

See ya soon!

    My congratulations! You’ve done it :)

    Nice work so far. “show ip route” didn’t work for me, but that may be because I had a full routing table (>200K routes).

  3. Cartman says:

    Thank you, Stig!
    This is only beginning, a concept…
    Now I work on UI, then will go with XML import/export.
    200 K routes? WOW. I do not have such system, but will try to figure it out!

      Hi Cartman,
      Don’t worry about “show ip route” not working with a full Internet routing table – even Vyatta’s subscription-only GUI doesn’t handle it and causes the browser to hang. This was a topic of discussion on the IRC channel ##vyatta and the most agreed that when you have a full Internet feed you don’t use “show ip route” without a filter to look for a specific prefix. Anyway, keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to future releases.

    Hola Oscar,

    :?

    After bringing up the appliance and updating it per the quick start PDF, I get a “We’re sorry, but something went wrong.” error. Is there something else I am missing? Is there a deb package that can be installed on my own box?

    Saludos, hermanos.

    Saludos a ti y a Herminio.

    Hi Cartman,
    great job, really! That’s what I always wanted with Vyatta, especially with latest after-6.2 versions, which do not have WebGUI anymore.

    What about VC6.4 and VC6.5? Are those also supported?
    I mean, in those versions Vyatta changed NAT rules organisation, put them off the SYSTEM node and used own NAT node instead. Also NAT is devided into source and destination node.
