vyBuddy news: Big update pack #1

During last few weeks I was struggling to make vyBuddy better
and now it looks like I finally got some good things done:

UI improved, new icons and styles added;
Basic executable on demand tasks implemented;
Per-hosts executable tasks implemented;
Tons of nasty bugs fixed;

Stay tuned folks, each day vyBuddy makes its steps more and more confidently
and I believe soon we will have something to be really proud of.

vyBuddy news: Added watchdog

User rothman reported core daemon vymasterd failing occasionally for no reason.
Added watchdog cronjob to check vymasterd every 5 minutes and restart if needed.
It will log WARN messages like “vyMasterD was successfully restarted by watchdog”.
Guys, have you noticed this vymasterd issue?

vyBuddy news: Added uploadable executors

Finally we did it: uploadable executors are now reality!

Executors are wrapper scripts vyBuddy uploads to managed remote systems
for transparent trouble-free operational and configuration command execution.
Depending on Vyatta software version, vyBuddy uploads different executors.

This measure wipes out most of the Vyatta version hassle. At least for 6.X.

vyBuddy news: Consolidated logs and remote commands

Just consolidated vyBuddy project logs under /opt/vybuddy/log,
temporarily restricted usage of unsafe configuration mode commands
and got rid of useless LOG_BACKUP_DIR constant, which broke DRY rule.

Please run update-vybuddy to get latest fixes!

vyBuddy news: Update system enhanced

vyBuddy update system was good, but we’ve made it even better!
All update-related stuff moved from /lib to /vendor and slightly optimized.

NB! For end-user everything remains the same, just run update-vybuddy and enjoy.

I really hope I’ve messed enough with update system and now it’s clean enough.

vyBuddy news: Critical “scope” bug fixed

Just fixed critical bug in vyBuddy!

After upgrading Netzke framework to the latest version
scopes stopped working and after logging in message
“We’re sorry, but something went wrong” was displayed.

Please run update-vybuddy script to load bug fixes.

New release: Vyatta-Config-Validator 0.1-6

Fixed “interfaces ethernet ethX ip” empty node quirk,
which failed config validations for some evil reason.
Please install fixed version this way:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y --force-yes install vyatta-config-validator
Credits for noticing this quirk must go to user ipmatchregex.
NB!
Vyatta-Config-Sync users must also upgrade, cause Vyatta-Config-Sync
uses Vyatta-Config-Validator to validate synced configurations!
